Long time no see. Firstly, I want to thank those who are waiting for a new post from me. From now, I promise to frequently write to share about knowledge/experience that I gain by working. Hope to give you some new useful perspectives.
About a month ago, I had a good opportunity to have an interview with my new customer who operating in the Skincare company. In the next 6 months, he wants to deploy a voucher-giving campaign to his VIP customer aka the top 10 money-spent customer. Now, he intends to propose a solution for his business case and ask me to give some advice to make the result better. His proposal is:
In the current system, we will build the voucher-generated function that generates different vouchers for customers based on customer and campaign information. The template (rule) for the voucher is "CustomerName_City_CampaignName_RandomCode".
For example, if the customer's name is Tran, stays in HCM and the campaign name is "Thank you for using our service", the voucher should be "Tran_HCM_Thankyou_1111"
To be honest, I think it will be probably a good idea unless there are some potential risks involved. As you know, we had various kinds of vouchers and rules to generate for every kind of them, there are also include advantages and disadvantages, for example:
One voucher for all members: This rule to generate vouchers is quite simple because of the 1 voucher instead of tons of vouchers so that can be easily posted in one Facebook post for all customers but it's hard to control the specific member you want to activate this code or not.
One voucher for one member (Generated from customer information): This kind of voucher is easier for businesses in controlling the number of vouchers that will be generated. On the other hand, it does not probably work well in a new product release campaign. Because as you know, whenever we release a product, we need to touch new customers (the more touch, the more success) but we don't actually have their information so we don't have a voucher for them, it's totally terrible.
Vouchers for some conditions: Purchase more than 10 million or be a top 10 money-spent for this month and a lot of different kinds of vouchers
The specific rule for a current solution is good, but in the future, it is not probably work well. If it happened for some unexpected reason, we will spend more resources to continue developing. So, to end this post, I highly recommend for those who have a responsibility in proposing new solutions is
Not only the solution for the current situation but also the future
Thank you and hope you have a nice weekend.
