I only realized I was wasting my time when I check the screen time report on my phone. Apps like Facebook, Instagram, Messenger were always most-used apps.
Every hour scrolling the newsfeed, nothing is gained but time-wasting.
Social media gets people addicted. We stare all day on our phones, absorb meaningless information, read about things that we don’t even care. As a result, our brain becomes slow because it gets used to being “fed”, instead of working.
When we’re so into getting attention in social media, chances are we live less in real life, but more in the virtual world. The highs we get when someone reacts our Facebook ( and Instagram) stories distract us from our real problems.
We forget that we have many things to do to move forward in life. What about learning a new skill to get promoted, exercising to get fit and healthier, visiting your parents more frequently? There are so many more other meaningful things to do, but instead, we choose to do live mindlessly.
I got scared of the thought that I'm drifting through my life. For whatever comes, I would have no control. What kind of life it is to live?
I changed this by deleting my Facebook app. It turns out I can live so well without it. I have more time to do things that I always wanted to do but never did. I become happier, healthier. I get better connections with friends and colleague because I talk to real people more often.
Life without social media is great!
For every day passes, let’s learn something new, let’s do something meaningful to your life!
Let’s live!
